Background Checks - Crucial For Biz Owners

As a business owner, doing background checks on your partners, employees and maybe even big clients can be crucial to your future development and growth of your company. Why? If you hire an employee previously caught stealing from their employer chances are there that they will also steal from you. Even if they do not steal their previous behavior has shown lack of moral standards and they may end up hurting your business in one way or another. Also, even in cases where the employee is not convicted or caught for something directly related to a company you should really consider the employee if they have a criminal record. If someone has a record of drug use or drug dealing or violent history you never know when this person will be caught again and if this person is an important part of your business it may be hard for your business if he suddenly cannot come to work because he has been inprisioned.

Clients can take your goods and never pay you a dime. Of course, if you are running a store you do not do a check on your customers but if you sell goods with 30 days credit or whatever, you definitively would like to do both a SSN check, a credit check and a free criminal background checks as these kinds of background checks can combined tell you a great deal about that client.

Partners can of course rip you off. That is something I have first handed experienced. I once worked with a guy who seemed nice as a little lamb but once it was time for bonuses and income split he turned greedy and tried to take out a lot more than he was entitled to. I also found out that he had planned to empty the accounts and escape as he had unpaid drug-debt. This was a guy that looked like the average Joe that now was a deep-shit-junkie.
